Parts Canada TransCan at Walton Raceway Introduces “20th Anniversary” Logo

Walton, Ontario, Canada

(March 31, 2011) – The Parts Canada TransCan at Walton Raceway is sporting an attractive new logo to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the TransCan.
The 2011 logo will incorporate the same basic design as the logo that was revealed last year with the introduction of the TransCan’s title sponsor Parts Canada.  The new anniversary addition logo features a gold banner celebrating 20 years of the TransCan, outlined by the green and gold shield, featuring shining stars that give off a sparkling effect.

“Being the 20th year of the TransCan we are very excited to incorporate anniversary themed surprises to our 2011 event”, explained Walton Raceway Marketing Director, Mark Perrin. “We are looking to continue the momentum from past years and incorporate and attract all motocross related companies as well as many outside industry companies into what will truly be a celebration of Canadian Motocross, August 16 to 21, during the Parts Canada TransCan at Walton Raceway”.

You can expect to see some of the anniversary themed surprises announced throughout the spring and summer. For starters, this year will feature the largest Canadian Motocross event program ever produced, as we are working with Chris Pomeroy, as our editor. Chris brings 30 plus years of Canadian Motocross experience, which will recap the history of Canadian Motocross, 20 years of the TransCan, 40 years of Walton Raceway and stories and memories from many Canadian motocross icons.

In addition, Walton Raceway is returning to the enduring symbols of its past, the Walton Raceway new Red and White "Heritage Logo" features the former Walton logo in a different context.

“Only a few tracks in Ontario have stood the test of time the way that Walton Raceway has”, stated Walton Raceway’s owner Chris Lee, “2011 will mark 40 years since the hollowed grounds were first turned over by a dirt bike tire. In these past 40 years there has been a lot happen at the our farm where Walton Raceway is located, few thought back then, that this rural setting would turn into the most famous spot for motocross in Canada.”

Both the Parts Canada TransCan Anniversary logo and the Walton Raceway logo will be available on selected merchandise. By the end of April, the new images will be fully incorporated and appear on everything from vehicles and signs to a greater selection of merchandise and guest-related items.

Gopher Dunes is opening for motocross practice this Saturday, April 2 & Sunday, April 3 from 11am to 6pm for recreational riding

Well, this season has definitely started out unlike from last year,
when things were dry enough to have the track open by March 19.  It's
certainly been much more of a struggle this year and continues to do
so as the snow keeps on sneaking back along with the colder night
temperatures.
But....we're almost there now.....
Lots of water pumping and trenching took place during the milder days
of March Break, where low-lying areas of the motocross track had lakes
of water over waist-deep.  Slowly but surely, things have been shaping
up and we are opening both the big track and the pee-wee track this
Saturday, April 2 & Sunday, April 3 from 11am to 6pm for recreational
riding.   Any extreme low temp's on Friday night may slightly delay
the 11am opening on Saturday, to allow the sun to rid of any ground
frost?  Otherwise, both tracks are in good condition!
Then for the remainder of April, please visit:  www.gopherdunes.com
and view the Monthly Track Schedule for our April calendar.

The trails will NOT be open for about another month, as they are
extremely wet and impassable.  Only sport quads and mx/dirt bikes are
allowed on the track, absolutely no 4x4 utility quads.
New for Gopher Dunes in 2011 is that we are now accepting Visa,
MasterCard and Dr. cards for Pro Shop sales and also for practice
riding when signing in at the shop.  All electronic sales will have
the additional HST added to the transaction. We also have an ATM
onsite.

Please help us speed up the sign-in process...
For MINORS under 18:  it is mandatory that Minors fill out the
Parental Consent  Waiver for Parental.pdf  & Minor Waiver Release
Waiver for Minors.pdf  forms before their first ride at Gopher Dunes
in 2011.  Unless you plan on bringing along both parents to your first
ride out at the Dunes, you must complete these forms at home.
Download and print them, read them, get them signed as per
instructions below and bring them along.  Without these forms you can
be denied riding at the Dunes, so get 'er done NOW!!  Even if both of
your parents will be accompanying you, by completing these forms in
advance will definitely speed up the sign-in process.  Thank you!

Details on completion of both forms:
Waiver for Parental.pdf  This Waiver requires the Minors (anyone under
age 18) full name printed in Line 1 and then BOTH parents names need
to be signed & printed at the bottom, one below the other.  This
Waiver must be completed once per year as we are required to keep them
on file.  Please read and understand what the Waiver outlines, and to
save time, do this in the comfort of your home, prior to arriving at
Gopher Dunes Inc.  If the parents are divorced, they can each sign
this form separately and bring both along.  If there is sole custody
or one parent is deceased, notate this at the bottom and then a single
signature is sufficient.
Waiver for Minors.pdf  This Waiver must be read and signed by the
Minor (under 18).  He/she must enter their age on Line 5.   The Minor
then must sign and print their name at the bottom and one parent can
sign as a Witness.

The Parental Consent & Minor Waiver Release forms are legal documents
and it is mandatory that Gopher Dunes Inc. has these on file for 2011.
The completion of these 2 forms in their entirety are required to be
done once a year, and they must be done prior to your first time
riding at Gopher Dunes in 2011.
NOTE for MINORS under 18:  No completed forms = No ride at Gopher Dunes Inc.

2011 Gopher Dunes Memberships are also available for purchase -- to
get your 'best bang for the buck' you should purchase your membership
prior to your first ride at the Dunes.  For $450 + HST you will get
Unlimited Practice Riding plus Free Gate Admission to our 4x4 MudFests
& to our CMRC Motocross Races (excl. the Pro Nat'l w/e & ATV Canada
Cup w/e).  Additional inclusions for 2011 Members will be a 15%
discount on most Pro Shop purchases plus a free pair of SCOTT goggles
offered to the first 20 new 2011 Memberships signed-up!

From all the phone calls and emails we've been getting, we know there
are a lot of anxious riders out there!  So head on down to the Dunes
for your first outdoor ride of the season here in Ontario!

Quote of the day:  If you look at what you have in life, you'll always
have more.  If you look at what you don't have in life, you'll never
have enough.

Track Chatter from TIMX Tillsonburg Indoor MX , last call for indoor Ontario MX this spring/winter

Tillsonburg Indoor MX

Looks like March 2011 turned into a big fat LION. The middle of March saw warm temps and that meant we were finally able to get back on the track with the Bulldozer and get some much needed grooming done. So much in fact that we actually broke it twice. Both little things so it was up and going quickly, just the bank account is a couple grand lighter. Ouch.
Back to reality,   it snowed   AGAIN

If any of you live in a bubble like we do here, you may not have heard much about the Toronto Supercross this weekend.  The link should be live but lets just say it's Saturday night at 7pm.

It's a tough choice but this is the final season weekend for the Motorcross track in Tillsonburg as well. The choice is yours; ride or watch someone else ride. hmmmmmm

Its been a good season, way too much snow if you like to motocross but hey, at least the track has a roof on it. March 31st is the final practice day regardless of weather. I am certain Gopher Dunes is trying to get open as soon as they can, but until then you have one last week before spring shut down.

Our final race of the season is Saturday April 2nd with the Sasquatch Vintage club racing in the morning and our Indoor Thunder Mini Bike club racing their normal 4 pm start. From there it is bye bye motocross track in preparation for the annual RC showdown.

If I can think of anyother last minute news I will fire it off. Hope to see you for one last ride before the Spring Meltdown.

Give concussions the respect they deserve. You only get one brain! Here are the basics 2 no BEFORE one occurs @racerxvt

  • RED FLAG symptoms- SEEK PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY:
Headache - Very drowsy - Can't recognize people and places - Vomiting - Confusion - Seizures - Unsteady - Slurred speech
  • Use SCAT2 (Sports Concussion Assessment Tool). SCAT2 is a standardized post concussion evaluation where the athlete scores themselves on how they feel as well as observation by others. You give a copy of these results to any attending medical staff. There are also memory checks, cognitive and nuerologic screenings to be done by the attending medical staff so that you will have a record of the results. The SCAT2 is then done during the recovery process to aid in determining the severity of the concussion, level of recovery and return to play. A preseason SCAT2 test is also suggested to help in post concussion interpretation of scores. You can download a copy of the SCAT2 here: SCAT2 on coachseiji.com

As someone who has had the personal experience of repeated concussion and seen others suffer from lack of speedy diagnosis PLEASE read this and be prepared for WHEN NOT IF a concussion occurs to yourself or someone around you.

National Champ Tyler Medaglia is in the latest issue of Inside Fitness magazine launching a full profile on motocross training

Motocross has come a long way since it’s roots as “The Original Action Sport”. Over the past few years in particular, motocross has garnered a growing community that lives and breathes the lifestyle. Although motocross has made some incredible strides as of late, it still struggles to be recognized amongst mainstream sports like hockey, football, baseball and basketball. Until now, motocross has typically been profiled in specific industry media. This is all changing as Inside Fitness Magazine is launching a full profile on motocross training, featuring a dynamic interview with 2010 CMRC 250cc National Champion Tyler Medaglia.

This is one of the very few times that the incredible sport of motocross has been detailed in a high distribution, main stream fitness magazine that is distributed in over 100 countries world wide! In the interview with Craig Stevenson, Tyler takes us through what it really takes to become a top pro both in Canada and in the US. Be sure to spread the word about this exciting step forward for our sport by posting it on relevant websites and other forms of media. Please feel free to let industry insiders and sponsors know that this article is set to hit newsstands across the world beginning today. This truly is an exciting opportunity to promote our sport as we enter into the 2011 outdoor season.

Included are the first two pages of the article and cover of the magazine that can be posted and displayed on your site. Please encourage people to pick up a copy at their local store to read the full article!
