Overcast skies kept Auburn Hills in pristine condition for Ontario's elite to battle Round 2 of the Parts Canada Ontario Provincial Championships. In pro class action, Ontario's top gun, Chuck Mesley returned to form with a strong 1-1 in 250cc action and 1-2 finish in 125cc.
The 125 Pro was especially satisfying for the entire Machine camp. They
had been having bike troubles with the new Honda 125cc. "We didn't give
up, plain and simple. We worked different combos with the bike and now
we have a great package" said team manager John Nelson about the Honda
125. It showed as Mesley caught points leader and team mate, Pierce
Chamberlain in moto 1. Chamberlain lead early but ended third. Pierce
rebounded in moto 2 for the win and spoiled Mesley's perfect day.
"There is a lot of people behind me, and I really want to win this
championship for them." said Chamberlain. Third went to Machine Racing's
Mike Island, who placed 2-5 overall. Island seemed satisfied with his
ride as he continues to improve. " I am happy with today and I think I
can really improve too. My strong motos were my first. With more bike
time, I'll be in contention." Chamberlain left Auburn leading the series
over North point/Label it Joel Saaritts and KST Racing Kyle Keast.
Pro 250 points leader Pro-Action Dan Rounding struggled throughout the
day after a ankle injury suffered the week before. "I dropped my foot a
Walton last week and really twisted my foot. I just want to get points
today, and stay in this for Two Wheel and Honda.". It was Mez who
dominated in Auburn. "I am finally done school and can ride, it shows. I
had been training, I just needed to ride more." said an elated Mesley.
Taking a strong second was KTM/Deliverance Ryan Gauld with 3-2. "It has
taken me a while to get used to the KTM but I am really starting to feel
comfortable and good" said Gauldy. Machine Racing Mike Island pulled
down third with a 2-6 performance. Rounding holds the series lead with 5
points separating the top 5 in the points chase.
Other weekend notables; Tyler Medaglia beat Suzuki Zeb Dennis the 125cc
